Description
Tamper resistant receptacles, unlike traditionalreceptacles, offer the added protection of a permanentlyinstalled, spring-loaded slider mechanism capable ofresisting insertion of single pronged elements (suchas keys, hairpins, or nails) while still allowing accessto electrical plugs.
The NEC prohibits the dimming of standard receptacles.Lutron’s Dual Dimming TamperResistant (DDTR) and Half Dimming Tamper Resistant(HDTR) receptacles are specifically designed to mechanicaly reject allNEMA standard plugs and thus can not be used for anyother device (fan, heater, vacuum, radio, etc.). Thesereceptacles will only accept the special mating Lutronreplacement plug for dimming use (RP-FDU). Theresult is an NEC compliant way to control a portablelamp with a dimmer.
